White Wine Margarita

Add a sparkling touch to any gathering when you bring out this refreshing adult beverage. A pitcher of White Wine Margaritas is an instant party starter.

White Wine Margarita

White Wine Margarita Is a Fresh Take on a Classic

There’s something special about a margarita. Lime juice, salt and bright orange create a refreshing combination. Sometimes, however, the pungent flavor of tequila can overwhelm that freshness. The alcoholic potency of tequila can make margaritas dangerous to drink.

This White Wine Margarita takes care of both those problems. Instead of tequila, it uses white wine and triple sec for a milder taste and lower alcohol level. This adult punch offers a fresh, sophisticated take on the famous cocktail.

Enjoy the Flavors of Summer

This White Wine Margarita lets you enjoy your favorite summer flavors in one intoxicating blend. The fruity flavors of chardonnay get a spark from the citrus of limeade and orange juice. The sweet flavors contrast sharply with the salted rims for a drink that’s like a tropical vacation in a glass.

Tips for Making White Wine Margaritas

  • You can find chardonnay and triple sec at any liquor store.
  • You don’t have to buy top-shelf chardonnay or triple sec for this. Any inexpensive brands will work.
  • Cut lemons and limes into wheels for garnishes. This video shows you how.
  • Serve White Wine Margaritas in traditional margarita glasses or wine glasses.

What to Serve with White Wine Margaritas

These margaritas will be the star attraction at any party. You can never go wrong with Classic Shrimp Cocktail or a Grilled Pineapple Salsa served with tortilla chips.

If you have guests who would rather skip the alcohol, make Nonalcoholic Margaritas.

Give your summertime drinking a burst of freshness with this Orange Slice Moonshine. It’s a potent way to celebrate the season’s sunny flavors.

Orange Slice Moonshine

Get Ready for Summer With Orange Slice Moonshine

This citrus-flavored drink will add a touch of Southern hospitality to all your gatherings. Whether you’re having a casual cookout or an elegant summer brunch, everyone will enjoy this adult treat. If you’re interested in trying more amazing moonshine flavors, you might want to try Jolly Rancher Moonshine or Candy Corn Moonshine.

Tips for Making Orange Slice Moonshine

  • Cointreau and Grand Marnier are the best-known orange liqueurs, but you don’t need anything that expensive. Triple sec is a good substitute. Ask for the cheapest triple sec at your local liquor store.
  • Give your moonshine time. Leaving it in for the full 30 days ensures a smooth, mellow brew.
  • You can make a lemon-flavored version of this drink with lemon candies and limoncello lemon liqueur.

A Word About Everclear

If you’ve never used Everclear to make drinks, be careful. This is powerful stuff, and a little goes a long way.

Here’s the lowdown straight from the Big Moonshine blog:

“Everclear is 190 proof. Let me make that clear. By comparison, most rums and vodkas clock in between 40% to 60% or 80 to 120 proof. Everclear is deemed the strongest alcohol on earth. Chemistry doesn’t allow anything stronger than 191 proof to exist.”

If you’re not comfortable using something that powerful, it’s fine to use plain, unflavored vodka instead. You will still get delicious results.

How to Serve Orange Slice Moonshine

Serve moonshine cold. Use chilled shot glasses or fill rocks glasses with crushed ice.

If you don’t want a strong drink, turn the moonshine into a cocktail by adding mixers. Put it in the blender with vanilla ice cream to create a creamsicle milkshake. Add it to iced tea with lemon for a true Southern treat.

If you’re having cocktails and appetizers, these sharp, sweet Candied Jalapeno Cream Cheese Crostini are a great match. These Potato Chip-Crusted Fried Oysters are another good choice.

Banana Tea May Be The Solution For A Good Night’s Sleep

April 10, 2020 by Good Living Guide. This post may contain affiliate links. 2 Comments

Are you ready to enjoy deep, restful sleep? Are you ready to wake up refreshed rather than groggy without the use of dangerous, addictive sleeping pills? If you are, you should brew a batch of banana tea.

Banana Tea

Brew Your Bananas

Banana tea is all the rage right now as a natural solution for insomnia.

This simple tea uses ingredients you probably have in your home right now. If you’ve had a history of insomnia, why not give it a try? Our simple recipe makes it easy to enjoy a sweet, soothing cup of banana tea.

How Does Banana Tea Work?

Bananas are high in the minerals potassium and magnesium. When your body is low in its levels of these key minerals, you’re likely to be nervous, anxious and unable to sleep well.

What’s the magic ingredient? It’s the banana peel.

On his blog, nutrition expert David Wolfe writes that, “Bananas are rich in potassium and magnesium, but what most people do not know is that the banana peel has even more potassium and magnesium than the banana itself, and it is often thrown away as trash. Not anymore! With this simple recipe, you can get the benefits of the potassium and magnesium in the banana peel.”

People Are Going Bananas for This Natural Sleep Aid

Potassium and magnesium aren’t the only secret ingredient in banana tea. According to HerbalTeasOnline, banana peels are high in the amino acid tryptophan, which is “a mood-boosting neurotransmitter which regulates the stress level and sleep pattern. A cup of banana or peel tea would have a refreshing effect on your mind, facilitating a good sleep.”

Whip up the perfect winter cocktail with a White Christmas Mojito. This seasonal take on the classic tropical cocktail will lift your spirits even on the grayest, coldest winter day.

White Christmas Mojito

Enjoy Winter with a White Christmas Mojito

You might think that spiced rums, coconut and mint are strictly for summertime drinking, but this special mojito is all dressed up in a winter coat.

This is a drink that looks as gorgeous as it tastes. It comes out pure white, and the pomegranate arils look like holly berries against snow.

Make It a Very Merry Christmas

This gorgeous cocktail is a must at any get-together.

It’s also a great way to treat yourself after a long, grueling day fighting the holiday crowds.

Tips for Making a White Christmas Mojito

  • If you’ve never eaten or cooked with pomegranate, don’t be afraid. Pomegranates have thick, tough skins and can be messy. They’re absolutely worth it, however, for their sweet, tangy taste, gorgeous color and incredible health benefits. Get a few tips for seeding and eating them here.
  • Coconut milk is not coconut cream, which is thicker and sweeter. Coconut milk is a popular ingredient in Thai and Latin American cooking. You can usually find it in the international foods section of your grocery store.

What to Serve With White Christmas Mojitos

These Christmas Mini Cheese Ball Bites are a perfect pairing for your White Christmas Mojitos. They’re bright with the colors of the season and have a similarly creamy taste.

Another great option is this warm, festive-looking Hot Spinach Spread with Pita Chips.

Candy Corn Moonshine

This Candy Corn Moonshine is a must-try for anyone who enjoys the sweet flavor of this amazing seasonal candy. It’s a great drink to kick off the fall season and a welcome guest at your next Halloween party.

Candy Corn Moonshine

If you secretly love candy corn, but you think it’s too much of a kid’s treat, wait ’til you see what we’ve got brewing for you. This is a grown-up version of your favorite Halloween candy. It has a gorgeous orange glow, and it will definitely put a glow in your belly.

Candy Corn Moonshine

Before You Start: Helpful Tips

  • The recipe calls for Everclear 151. This is a strong, clear and flavorless alcohol product you can buy in most liquor stores. If you can’t find Everclear or you want your moonshine a little less potent, use 100-proof, plain vodka.
  • Do not use any alcohol product designed for industrial use. This contains methanol, which is the stuff that made some old-time moonshine drinkers go blind.
  • This moonshine is very strong. Keep it away from kids and pets.

Make All Your Moonlights Special with Candy Corn Moonshine

You can serve this wickedly sweet moonshine chilled or in a cocktail. Try it with a splash of lemon-lime soda. Put a few drops in a glass of white wine or champagne. Pour a spoonful over vanilla ice cream. It’s time to unwind.

How To Make A Raspberry Summer Breeze Cocktail

Start by adding all the liquors, raspberry syrup and a few pieces of ice to a large cocktail shaker. We prefer Boston Shakers because they don’t get stuck like the Cobbler Shakers do. Then shake everything up, fill your glass with ice and pour the delicious concoction into your favorite cocktail glass. Finish by topping it off with a little Sprite, adding some fresh raspberries and garnishing it with a lemon slice.

One sip of Piña Colada Sangria and you’ll be transported to a warm, tropical wonderland!  It’s the perfect summertime party drink and it only requires 3 simple ingredients.

Pina Colada Sangria

Ingredients Needed for a Piña Colada Sangria

  • Moscato is my preferred choice for wine because of its sweeter taste.  I used Middle Sister for this batch.  It goes especially well with the sweet pineapple and coconut flavors.  But if sweetness isn’t your thing, you may want to use a dryer white wine instead.
  • Twenty ounces of crushed pineapple from a can (including the juice).
  • A tropical splash of Coconut Rum adds the finishing touch to this refreshingly delicious cocktail!

Pina Colada Sangria

Directions for Making a Piña Colada Sangria

Since summers were meant to be carefree and relaxing, I love easy to make drinks that can be made by the pitcher.  There’s nothing more to it than mixing all the ingredients in a large pitcher, stirring well, and then refrigerating until chilled. It can’t get much easier than that!
