Bravery Under Fire

In 2010, Carpenter deployed to Afghanistan. During a routine patrol, his battalion came under fire from a grenade attack. A military investigation later concluded that Carpenter was injured while protecting his friend Nick Eufrazio from the grenade.

Carpenter’s arms and jaw were broken, and he lost an eye. Eufrazio had extensive shrapnel damage to his face and body. Both of the soldiers survived.

Recovery and Recognition

Carpenter retired from the military in 2013. In 2014, President Barack Obama awarded him the Medal of Honor in a White House ceremony.

In its citation, the military commended Carpenter for his incredible bravery and his willingness to put his life on the line for another.

That’s been MY point for a LONG time now!! All this lip-service dishonoring the flag by taking a knee to protest police brutality is nothing but trash in comparison to the way this country treats its service men and women! There is NOTHING more disrespectful than selling “country first” to these men and women, only to turn your back on them when they come home disabled and shell-shocked from protecting the very flag, freedoms, and government that spouts how much they honor our service men and women!! The same country can find money to build bigger prisons, finance celebrity and sporting events, and bankroll crooked financial institutions, can’t find money to provide these brave men and women with housing and medical care!!! In my opinion, they’re FAR more disrespectful and damaging to the respect of our miliatry than athletes and celebrities who take a knee!!

I totally agree that he needs money and he will. It’s not astronomical by no means. He was retired from the military. When you are retired from a medical situation like that, he’ll receive up to, if not the whole 100% of his pay, he’ll have insurance on him and his family for life ,until the kids are 21 I believe. He will recieve grants that allow him to adapt his house if need be as well as adaptation to his vehicle. Beyond that I’m not a 100 % sure.

Unbelievable! Wish there were more young men today like Kyle. Absolutely a true hero and even more a true friend. Not all friends would do what he did! Truly giving to survive your fellow man! Most people are for themselves that is for sure. For themselves first too! True hero no doubt. We need more of you! Thank God you’re still here! Love and prayers and blessings on your soul and your family forever! Good job!

You don’t hear very many stories like this anymore. The selfless act of saving your brothers at your own peril is the greatest gift possible. I am keenly aware of the challenges you live with after a trauma to your body like yours. I truly believe that God put you there because you were the right man to save others. And I have no doubt that you will be blessed. Your spirit is an inspiration to the many.

You are our man of fame. You are our country. You are a brother, a deeper love than anyone can tell. There are no words in our entire vocabulary that can express the love that we as Americans feel for you. You are the epitomy of what a man can be. We look up to you. May God bless you .
